Aryaka and Zscaler team up on joint SD-WAN solution
Global SD-WAN provider Aryaka and cloud-based information security company Zscaler are teaming up to deliver a joint SD-WAN cloud-security offering. According to the companies, the partnership will enable businesses to consume cloud-native private connectivity and cloud-delivered security in a unified solution.
SD-WAN is a budding network architecture that allows companies to create, manage and optimize WAN connections. The technology grew in popularity in the early 2000s when organizations started transferring their servers from the office to data centers. SD-WAN gave company headquarters and their branch offices a way to reliably access these cloud-based applications. Research firm IDC projects the SD-WAN market to reach $8 billion by 2021 as companies continue to transform their networks virtually.
Aryaka’s Global SD-WAN is intended to boost global connectivity and application performance. Zscaler offers security controls for web and cloud-bound traffic, including threat protection, data protection and access control capabilities. Aryaka edge device (ANAP) can forward all web and cloud bound traffic directly to the Zscaler cloud. According to the companies, the combined cloud-native solution offers global enterprises with enhanced global application performance and cloud security, providing secure access to both cloud-based and on-premises mission-critical applications.
“The cloud has caused enterprises to rethink traditional approaches to network and security solutions in a world where the datacenter is no longer the de facto destination,” said Punit Minocha, Zscaler SVP of business and corporate development, in a statement. “A globally distributed workforce should have fast and secure and unfettered access to the cloud, and we are proud to be working with Aryaka on a solution that supports enterprise-class connectivity and enables wider adoption of local Internet breakouts, providing the performance, security, and agility needed in today’s cloud-first world.”
Among the key features of the combine solution include the ability to deliver fast access and performance for mission and business-critical applications hosted locally or in the cloud; security for all enterprise cloud and web traffic leveraging threat prevention; reduction in network complexity and associated costs; activate and deploy new sites and services in days rather than months; as well as deliver total visibility on application usage and performance over the network.
“Aryaka’s Global SD-WAN enables enterprises with fast global connectivity along with accelerated access to mission and business critical applications. Aryaka uses a global private network with built-in optimization and security capabilities that includes a multi-layer security approach with a global private core network, fortified security on the POPs, end-to-end encrypted tunnels, and stateful firewalls,” Gary Sevounts, chief marketing officer of Aryaka, told RCR Wireless News. “Zscaler adds a layer of advanced security controls needed for web and cloud bound traffic, inspecting traffic to provide threat prevention, data protection, and access control for users wherever they connect, without impacting performance.”
Aryaka’s SD-WAN isn’t the only platform Zscaler has integrated its cloud security with in recent memory. Last November, for example, Riverbed Technology announced it was combining its SD-WAN solution SteelConnect with Zscaler’s cloud security platform to enhance security for branch and remote office business centers. With the combined solution, the companies said businesses could launch SD-WAN solutions in the cloud with security.
