NetScout Systems becomes member of LFN
The Linux Foundation Networking Fund (LFN) continues to grow with NetScout Systems Inc. jumping on board as its newest member.
LFN was founded at the beginning of the year as a way to house the Linux Foundation’s open source projects centered on creating an open ecosystem for telecom operators under a single roof. Among its founding members include OpenDaylight, OPNFV, ONAP, FD.io, PNDA and SNAS.
NetScout is a provider of application and network performance management products. As a member of the LFN, NetScout will be able to collaborate with the open source community with its virtualized visibility instrumentation and smart data solutions, which provide actionable metadata and KPIs, according to the company.
“NetScout’s’s membership in LFN allows us to bring the strength of our smart data technology to enable automation platforms such as ONAP,” said Vikram Saksena, office of the CTO, NetScout, in a statement. “As NFV and SDN technologies gain traction in the network, smart data driven automation platforms will be essential for creating an agile service delivery infrastructure for network operators. Our membership in LFN is an important step in helping to accelerate the agenda for automating network services in a virtualized environment.”
NetScout said its virtualized visibility and instrumentation solution leverages its patented Adaptive Service Intelligence (ASI) technology to provide real-time views of application performance and end-to-end session trace data. It added these real-time metrics can be used for closed-loop automation in which service attributes are modified for proactive service assurance and to improve the user experience.
“We are pleased to have NetScout as part of the expanded LFN ecosystem,” said Arpit Joshipura, general manager, networking, the Linux Foundation. “NetScout’s service assurance capabilities will prove invaluable to service providers and enterprises as they create their networks and deliver a new generation of services.”
The LFN has garnered over 100 members since it was first launched. The group offers different levels of membership, including silver members, gold members and platinum members. Last month, Microsoft upgraded its membership status as a gold member. This month, NetScout joins the community as a silver member as well.
