Venture capital-backed systems integrator and major Motorola Solutions channel partner Mobile Communications America has acquired a fellow Motorola Solutions partner and wireless integrator, Crosspoint Communications.
MCA, one of Motorola Solutions’ largest channel partners in the U.S. has been making a number of such acquisitions over the past couple of years and said that it will continue to grow by doing so. CrossPoint bolsters MCA’s presence in the Southwest, with locations in Texas, Colorado, and Arizona. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
This is MCA’s second acquisition this month, following on the purchase of Hasty Communications, which focused on two-way radio and business telephone services for first responders and public safety agencies in Georgia and Florida. In March of this year, MCA was acquired by venture capital firm Sentinel Capital Partners, which said at the time that the South Carolina-based, MCA had a diverse base of more than 10,000 customers including public safety and “some of the largest, most well-known corporate clients in North America” for its critical communications business. The company has “regional density” in the Southeastern U.S., Sentinel noted, with “the capability of serving national commercial customers across the United States.”
MCA’s recent acquisitions of other Motorola Solutions channel partners include:
-The acquisition of two-way radio and video surveillance company Sharp Communications and Security, which had three locations in northern Alabama, in October 2018.
-The purchase of Savannah Communications in November 2018, which expanded the company’s footprint in coastal Georgia and South Carolina.
-In August 2018, MCA bought Gately Communication Company, which had four locations in Virginia and North Carolina.
MCA also went through a recent revamp of its band, saying earlier this month that it is “at a moment of growth and change within our company that warrants a repositioning” as it shifts from a regional mobile voice reseller to positioning itself as a national full-service voice-data-video solutions partner. In addition to two-way radios, wireless connectivity and security offerings, the company’s portfolio also includes vehicle and fleet solutions and industrial internet of things offerings.
