Juniper premieres new security appliances

Juniper announced a new line of network appliances and capabilities aimed at making security easier through automated policy management.

The latest security capabilities include the Junos Space Security Director, which offers security management with a centralized interface that provides enforcement across emerging and traditional risk vectors, according to Juniper. The company also premiered a Sky Advanced Threat Protection Appliance (ATP) alongside the SRX4600 Next-Generation Firewall hardware.

“At Juniper, we feel that automation is a key to better protect enterprise networks,” said Mihir Maniar, vice president of security product management, Juniper Networks, in a statement. “The traditional manual processes are labor intensive and inefficient, leading to wasted time and resources. Juniper’s new SDSN cybersecurity platform enhancements will allow already stretched security teams to save money and time to remediation, leveraging the benefits of automation while still relying on the extensive expertise of security professionals.”

SDSN is an open API based fabric, which identifies and gathers threat data through various control points. It focuses on using various pieces within a network to shed light on various threats to the network. The data collected from the network is reviewed and correlated by Juniper’s Sky (ATP) service, which provides both on-premises and cloud support.

“As a Juniper partner, we have seen SDSN evolve into a formidable security solution that provides organizations with a truly unified defense,” said Patrick Zanella, security practice lead at Integration Partners. “These new additions to the platform will provide even more automated remediation, minimizing the amount of time that security personnel need to spend on policy enforcement and operations. We look forward to continued partnership with Juniper Networks as they provide enterprises with advanced security solutions to address the complex cybercrime environment.”

The new firewall is combined with the latest iteration of Junos Space Security Director. The SRX4600 is intended to protect data flowing across different cloud environments. According to the company, Juniper Networks SRX4600 Next-Generation Firewall is optimized to protect private cloud environments. It is also combined with Security Director to provide “single pane of glass” view of enterprise security environments.

“As a hosting partner for leading game publishers and connecting millions of gamers worldwide, we are constantly looking for ways to cope with cyber threats in the most efficient way,” said Stefan Ideler, chief technology officer at i3D.net. “Since the deployment of Juniper’s technology, we’ve seen a 90 percent reduction of DDOS attacks penetrating our network. By offering an easy way to filter and mitigate problems, SDSN has drastically reduced the amount of time our security team has to spend on tasks that can easily be automated, freeing them up for more critical tasks that require human expertise.”
