Ericsson executive team member will “pursue opportunities outside the company”

A little more than a year following a restructuring of Ericsson leadership, Senior Vice President Helena Norman is leaving the Swedish network infrastructure vendor to “pursue opportunities outside the company,” per a statement.

Norman serves as chief marketing and communications officer and head of marketing and corporate relations. After a decade-long run with the company, Norman will leave by June 30.

In January last year Ericsson announced a restructuring that saw the marketing and communications and sustainability and public affairs business groups consolidated into what was dubbed Group Function Marketing & Corporate Relations, which Norman oversees.

In a statement, company President and CEO Börje Ekholm wished Norman well and said she “has been instrumental in reshaping and modernizing Ericsson’s global marketing and communications strategy and function. With a deep understanding of the company’s priorities she has helped Ericsson navigate through periods of both massive change and considerable challenges. Helena has been a valued member of the Executive Team and I wish her all the best in her future ventures.”

At the same time Norman’s group was consolidated, the company created a new business group focused on emerging business headed up by former McKinsey & Company partner Asa Tamsons, who also joined the executive team.

A further aspect of that shuffle saw Ulf Ewaldsson leave his leadership position of Business Area Digital Services to become advisor to the CEO. He was replaced in that position by  Jan Karlsson, who heads Solution Area BSS. Elaine Weidman, who led the Group Function Sustainability & Public Affairs left the company at that time.
