Comba said the new cards and remote units will be commercially available during June
California-based Comba Telecom has announced support for 600 MHz, 2.3 GHz and 2.5 GHz frequencies for the company’s ComFlex distributed antenna system solution.
Comba’s ComFlex DAS is a modular, multi-band and multi-operator distributed antenna system designed to provide wireless coverage for buildings over 100,000 square feet. The 600 MHz, 2.3 GHz and 2.5 GHz frequencies will be available as radio frequency modules that slide into ComFlex’s Master Unit, the company said.
Comba Telecom also said that these modules implement the latest 4.3-10 connector standard, reducing passive intermodulation (PIM) to minimize adding noise to the network.
Fed from the Master Unit (MU) via fiber, the Remote Units (RU) will support the combined 600 MHz, 2.3 GHz and 2.5 GHz frequencies together in a compact form factor that transmits the signals to service antennas and enables easy installation, Comba Telecom said.
The RUs are available in 5W indoor versions, as well as 20W and 40W indoor/outdoor versions.
“Adding 600 MHz, 2.3 GHz and 2.5 GHz support completes ComFlex’s DAS full coverage support for all the major operators in North America,” said Steven Cheng, Comba’s DAS product manager. “As operators start to implement these frequencies around the country, enterprise customers can feel confident they will get coverage inside their buildings using our DAS solution even if the frequencies aren’t deployed yet in their region.”
Comba’s ComFlex 600 MHz, 2.3 GHz and 2.5GHz cards and RUs will be available starting this month, the company said.
Comba offers different DAS solutions depending on the number of sources (carriers/frequencies) and square footage of the venue. Its Comba ComFlex Active Conditioning Unit (ACU) DAS is a modular, multi-technology RF signal conditioner designed to be flexible and deliver wireless service coverage to both indoor and outdoor environments; it is aimed at large venues such as stadiums, arenas and airports, according to the company. The ACU can be fed RF through a multiple of sources including base station (BTS) through Comba’s ACU solution, small cell as well as a base station’s over-the-air RF signal received through a donor antenna mounted on the roof.
Comba targets mid-sized complexes with its ComFlex 6100 series DAS, while the ComFlex Bi-directional amplifier (BDA) series is designed for smaller-sized spaces such as office buildings, retail shops and warehouses.
