Alpha Wireless releases new models of its popular small cell solution, the Concealed Antenna Node (CAN), to provide more frequency options and a more discreet design.

Alpha Wireless’ Concealed Antenna Node (CAN) was launched last year and proved so popular that mobile operators were using it before it was even officially released to the market.

The CAN was developed with concealment in mind as Alpha Wireless looked to produce an antenna solution that would deliver effective small cell coverage but would also have a low visual impact and fit discreetly into its surroundings.

The CAN’s all-in-one, patent-pending design, integrates the radios, backhaul options, GPS, cables, and any required power protection and distribution into a single enclosure. The circumference of the enclosure is the actual antenna!

Because the CAN is so visually ambient, it is easily approved by the most unyielding municipal zoning and permitting authorities, often saving months in deployment time. The list of municipalities across the world that have already approved the CAN in their communities is growing by the day.

The CAN’s innovative design allows it to be assembled in a controlled environment away from the site, which can save more than 50 per cent on cost and cut deployment times by more than 70 per cent compared with traditional deployment approaches.

Even under the most complicated network roll-outs, this will allow an antenna to be delivered painlessly and way under budget. This is why our mission statement at Alpha Wireless is simply: “…Changing the way wireless networks are built”.

But the wireless industry moves fast, and Alpha Wireless does too, so the volume has now been turned up on this antenna to make it even better. We now have even more options to choose from!

The next-generation CAN is available in multiple spectrum bands, with all frequency bands within 1710-2690 MHz, 3400-3800 MHz and 5150-5925 MHz now included. The new CAN has shrunk a little from the original size of 1.2m x 520mm, to just 996mm x 443mm, making it more robust and even more visually ambient.

Ryan White, VP Corporate & Business Development at Alpha Wireless stated: “Our new CAN demonstrates how we constantly collaborate with our customers to deliver the best possible antenna solutions. Our aim is to enable our customers to deploy their networks in a more cost-effective way and with better performance so that they achieve a higher return-on-investment compared with other possible solutions.”

“The customer-driven enhancements of the new CAN are a great example of what can be achieved through consultation with customers across the industry and throughout the world. Regardless of whether you are the smallest fixed wireless provider or the largest mobile operator, we are always working towards delivering innovative antenna solutions that meet the needs of our customers,” White says.

The next-generation CAN is even more visually ambient and cost effective than the original version. Please stop by and visit us so we can discuss how the CAN could change the way you build wireless networks!
