JetStream Software unveils JetStream Cross-Cloud Platform
Cloud development company JetStream Software introduced a new cross-cloud data management platform, dubbed JetStream Cross-Cloud Platform, which aims to support workload migration, resource elasticity, and business continuity across multi-cloud and multi-data center infrastructures.
Established in 2016, JetStream Software is headquartered in San Jose, Calif. It was founded by a seasoned enterprise IT management team from FlashSoft Software. Some of its partners include AWS, VMware, Dell EMC, IBM, Cisco, HPE and others.
According to the company, JetStream Cross-Cloud Platform will provide “built for the cloud” data management capability in an all-software, hypervisor-integrated solution for multi-cloud, multi-data center operations. The platform was made to complement VMware-based cloud infrastructures offered by VMware Cloud provider partners and VMware Cloud on AWS.
In particular, the platform will enable data replication for disaster recovery and disaster recovery-as-a-service (DRaaS). Research firm Gartner estimates the DRaaS market at approximately $2.01 billion with an expected growth to $3.7 billion through 2021. The company said that on-premises data centers will gain cloud elasticity with workload migration to and from communications service providers .
A major component of the platform is JetStream Migrate, which is intended to enable virtual machines and their workloads to migrate from on-premises data centers to cloud hosts. It can be fully integrated with VMware vSphere through the vSphere APIs for IO Filtering.
The company said its engineering team worked with VMware on the vSphere API for IO Filter framework. It added it will continue to work closely with VMware to deliver specific capabilities that complement VMware’s cloud offerings, including VMware Cloud Provider Partners and VMware Cloud on AWS.

JetStream’s established relationship provides VMware Cloud Provider Partners access to a rich set of third-party technologies to draw upon to build powerful solutions for their customers.”
JetStream Accelerate is another key component of the platform and is designed to optimize data center efficiency at scale. It is intended to boost compute and storage efficiency by optimizing storage I/O through low-latency tiering in non-volatile memory, according to the company.
JetStream Migrate is currently in customer beta evaluation and slated for generally available in the second quarter of 2018. JetStream Accelerate is commercially available now for VMware vSphere, Windows Server/Hyper-V and Linux/KVM environments. The company expects to deploy JetStream Cross-Cloud Platform in the second half of this year as well.
