5G SingleRAN Pro platforms supports 5G deployments as well as previous technologies, Huawei said
Chinese vendor Huawei has launched its 5G SingleRAN Pro, which combines 5G, 4G, 3G, and 2G capabilities across a single network.
The company said that the new solution features an automatic intelligent management system and a mobile cloud network architecture.
The 5G SingleRAN Pro uses a multi-Radio Access Technology baseband with a multi-band, multi-channel antenna and radio frequency unit with Massive Multiple-Input Multiple-Output.
Huawei highlighted that operators’ current investments will not be wasted once 5G arrives, as the new hardware platform supports the deployment of 5G networks while being 2G, 3G, and 4G compatible.
The Asian vendor also explained that integrated hardware platforms such as integrated baseband units are introduced to not only expedite the introduction of 5G, but also maximize site space. The new platform will also help lower overall site energy consumption and maintenance costs, Huawei said.
Huawei’s Mobile Cloud network architecture then allows telecom opeartors to use the same software for on-demand centralized base station deployment (CRAN), distributed base station deployment (DRAN), and CU-DU split deployment. This architecture also allows the cloudification of spectrum resources.
CloudAir is featured to enable on-demand rapid spectrum allocation resulting in an improved spectral efficiency for operators, the company said.
SingleRAN Pro also delivers intelligent wireless networks with AI-based network optimization, AI-based automatic O&M, and AI-based network capability enablement, the vendor added.

The all-in-one approach is an excellent answer for multi-RAT network deployment and also helps to significantly cut operators’ capex,” said Peter Zhou, chief marketing officer for Huawei Wireless Solutions. “The release of SingleRAN Pro is the result of continuous innovation combined with extensive experience of several hundred network deployments over the past decade. Huawei looks forward to teaming up with global operators and industry partners to embrace the future challenges and opportunities of the 5G era.”
Earlier this week, Huawei released its Global Industry Vision (GIV) 2025 during the vendor’s Global Analyst Summit taking place in Shenzhen, China.
According to the report, by 2025 all things will be able to sense and all things will be connected. GIV 2025 predicts that by 2025, the number of personal smart devices will reach 40 billion and the total number of connections around the world will reach 100 billion, creating a digital economy worth $23 trillion. Huawei said that the industrial internet will be the major source of these 100 billion connections.
By 2025, intelligent technology will be applied extensively in the transportation industry, with more than 60 million vehicles connected to 5G networks and 100% of new vehicles connected to the Internet, according to the report.
