Aerohive Networks introduce new hybrid cloud-access management solution

Aerohive Networks recently premiered a hybrid cloud-access management solution, dubbed Aerohive A3, slated to be released the second quarter of this year.

The purpose of Aerohive A3, according to the company, is to bring onboarding, security, management and control to connected devices, including IoT devices and Bring-your-own-Devices (BYOD). Among the solution’s chief characteristics include the ability to automate device provisioning, device profiling and network access control, self-service onboarding and guest access.

“We recognized the sizable opportunity presented by the complexity and user experience of current access management solutions,” said Abby Strong, VP of product management and product marketing at Aerohive, in a statement. “They can be grouped into two categories: complicated, and complicated and expensive. Aerohive’s offering will address the operational complexity issues, while providing superior functionality at a highly competitive price point. We are confident that our solution will quickly gain significant traction in the access management market.”

In a move to expand its market reach, the Aerohive A3 solution will be compatible with equipment from major vendors. It will also be able to be launched as part of the Aerohive SD-LAN and SD-WAN platform, including integrated Private Pre-Shared Key (PPSK) management and management from Aerohive’s HiveManage.

The company noted that Aerohive A3 intends to simplify both IoT and BYOD setup and ongoing management through a mix of streamlined workflows, an intuitive UI and Aerohive’s Cloud networking competency. It will first be sold as an on-premises software before being included as a cloud service on the Aerohive Cloud Services platform. A combination of the two can be configured, with functions distributed to remote premises and others centrally managed from the public or private cloud.

Aerohive also recently announced financial results for its fourth quarter and fiscal year ending last year. Total revenue for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2017 was $37.2 million, compared with $41.7 million for the fourth quarter of 2016. Total revenue for fiscal year 2017 was $152.9 million, compared with $169.8 million for fiscal year 2016.
